The Chaves County Board of Commissioners will postpone its April commission meeting. It is now scheduled for 9 a.m., Friday, May 1.

Meetings typically occur the third Thursday of the month, but the county made the announcement Wednesday, saying the decision resulted from the COVID-19 situation. The state has limited gatherings to five or fewer people, and the decision was made not to live-stream the meeting because more than five people still would need to be in the room.

“Chaves County wants to protect the general public, staff and county commissioners during this time,” the announcement said. “Chaves County always wants to be sensible in the way we conduct the business of the county and encourage everyone to stay home and practice social distancing.”
