New case of COVID-19 reported in Chaves County

One new case of COVID-19 was reported Wednesday in Chaves County among the 72 announced by the New Mexico Department of Health.

Wednesday’s report brings the total number of cases in Chaves County to 16. The state total is 865.

Three additional deaths were also reported Wednesday, all in Bernalillo County — a man in his 90s and two women in their 80s. All had underlying medical conditions, according to a press release from the Department of Health.

Sixteen deaths in the state have been confirmed related to COVID-19, according to the release.

The release states 59 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 in New Mexico. That number is up from Tuesday’s report of 51.

The number of people who have been designated as recovered from COVID-19 also increased from Tuesday’s report. According to Wednesday’s release, 201 people have recovered, up from 171 reported Tuesday.

New infections reported Wednesday, by county, are 20 in Bernalillo County, one in Chaves County, one in Cibola County, four in Doña Ana County, two in Eddy County, 15 in McKinley County, one in Rio Arriba County, 14 in Sandoval County, nine in San Juan County, two in Santa Fe County, two in Socorro County and one in Valencia County.

The Department of Health reported on its COVID-19 website that 23,807 total tests for COVID-19 have been conducted.
