Hetty was born in 1919 to Lloyd and Mary Green and grew up on the family farm in New Virginia, Iowa. Hetty was a farm girl who could operate farm equipment and drive a team of four work horses. She also played piano and organ and loved music all of her life. She graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa in 1940. Her careers included work with the Iowa Tuberculosis Society and personnel management in one of the big department stores in St. Louis, MO. In St. Louis she met and married Lester Hasekamp and together they ran an architectural construction and engineering firm for 25 years.

Hetty and Lester retired to Roswell in 1976 and Hetty became very active in the community. She became involved with the Community Soup Kitchen, the Assistance League and its Student Art Show, Immanuel Lutheran Church, PEO Chapter Z, the Roswell Women’s Club, the Assurance Home and more.

She loved community concerts and theater productions, reading, travel and her personal group of “shut-ins” that she communicated with on a regular basis.

Hetty never knew a stranger and had places in her heart for all of them. She was known for her smile and love of people. She was a great mother to Sharon and a dear friend to many.
