State Police ask for information in hit and run

New Mexico State Police are requesting people come forward with any information they might have pertaining to a hit and run crash Saturday near Artesia that left a Roswell man dead.

Jenio M. Berdoza, 39, of Roswell was struck by an unknown vehicle at mile post 80 on U.S. Highway 82 near Artesia while walking across the road, according to a press release issued Monday by the State Police.

The vehicle then fled the scene.

State Police responded to the crash Saturday at about 8 p.m. Berdoza was subsequently transported to Artesia General Hospital where he later died from his injuries. According to the press release, he was pronounced dead by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the crash should contact State Police at 575-382-2500, option 1, and inform the dispatcher the call is about the U.S. Highway 82 hit and run.
