Basil Thomas ‘Tom’ Gilmore

Basil Thomas “Tom” Gilmore, 82, of Roswell, NM, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 in West Monroe, LA surrounded by loving family and friends. Tom was born on December 18, 1937 in Fort Stockton, TX to the late Thomas and Modora (Kirkpatrick) Gilmore. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1960, served in the US army from 1961 – 1964 and became a CPA while working for a firm in Roswell, NM. He later became a principal partner in that firm.

Tom was an avid golfer and loved playing golf with many friends at the Roswell Country Club. His greatest passion, however, was finding golf balls to donate to the children’s golf program, First Tee. He donated more than 4,000 balls to the First Tee in Roswell.

Tom was survived by his wife Linda of Colorado Springs, Co, Wally Gilmore and wife Denise of Spring, TX, Doug Gilmore and wife Tammy of Lake Kiowa, TX, Brenda Roberts and husband Bobby of Calhoun, LA, David Wright of Albuquerque, NM, and Debbie Zamprelli of Colorado Springs, CO. Tom had 8 grandchildren, Jamie Cain of Mansfield TX, Jenna Poydence of Erie CO, Jessica Bolding of Arlington, TX, Jeremy Roberts of West Monroe, LA, Robert Gilmore of Oklahoma City, OK, Jenna Tennant of Laramie, WY, Dana Brickell of Colorado Springs, CO, Reese Wright of Houston TX, and honorary granddaughter McKenna Taylor of Eros, LA. Tom had 19 great-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, David Gilmore and his brother Pat Gilmore.

The family suggests memorials be made to the First Tee in Roswell, NM. A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date.
