Six more COVID-19 deaths reported in New Mexico

New Mexico state health officials on Sunday announced 66 additional positive tests for COVID-19. Including the newly reported cases, New Mexico has now had a total of 2,726 positive tests for the virus.

No new cases were reported Sunday in Chaves County, where the number of positive test results so far stands at 22.

The state Department of Health on Sunday also reported six additional deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19. The number of COVID-19 deaths in the state is now 99, according to a press release issued by the Department.

The most recent positive test results included: 18 in Bernalillo County, two in Cibola County, two in Curry County, six in Doña Ana County, two in Eddy County, one in Guadalupe County, 12 in McKinley County, two in Rio Arriba County, one in Roosevelt County, nine in Sandoval County, seven in San Juan County, one in Torrance County, two in Union County, and one in Valencia County.

According to the press release, the six additional deaths reported Sunday included a man in his 50s from McKinley County who was hospitalized; a woman in her 70s from McKinley County who was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions; a woman in her 80s from McKinley County who was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions; a man in his 70s from Sandoval County who was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions; a woman in her 70s from San Juan County who was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions (she was a resident of Life Care Center in Farmington); and a man in his 70s from San Juan County who was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions (also a resident of Life Care Center in Farmington).

Life Care Center is one of 12 congregate living and acute care facilities where the Department of Health has identified positive COVID-19 cases in residents and/or staff.

As of Sunday, there were 148 individuals hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. There were 650 COVID-19 cases designated as having recovered by the Department of Health.

New Mexicans who report symptoms of COVID-19 infection, such as fever, cough or shortness of breath, should call their health care provider or the COVID-19 hotline at 855-600-3453.
