A man was arrested in Albuquerque Wednesday afternoon in connection with a fatal shooting in Roswell.
Arturo Duran-Lujan, 40, was arrested late Wednesday at an Albuquerque residence on charges of second-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and child abuse, according to a press release issued by the Roswell Police Department.
Investigators believe Duran-Lujan fatally shot Leroy Jaramillo Acosta, 37, at about midnight Wednesday in the 300 block of East Ballard Avenue.
Police were called to the scene at about 12:15 a.m. where Acosta was found shot and lying on the sidewalk. He was subsequently transported to a hospital where he died a short time later.
Investigators now believe Acosta and Duran-Lujan had a history of conflict between them and were arguing before the shooting while outside a residence where numerous people were gathered, according to the release.
