Went peacefully after a hard-fought battle with cancer on April 27, 2020. Please take a moment to share a kind thought or memory with Barbara’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

Barbara was born on July 11, 1942, in La Mesa, Texas, to Lee and Edith Collins.

Barbara grew up spending most of her days on the Turnbow farm in Dawson and Martin County, Texas. Some of her favorite memories were the times she went to Thurber, Texas, for the Fourth of July, and spending time with all of her cousins. Barbara also enjoyed going to Lubbock, Texas, during the summer and staying with her Aunt and cousins. She and her sister Pat came to Roswell, New Mexico, as teenagers with their mom Edith in the mid-1950’s. In the 1970’s and early 1980’s, Barbara worked at the Roswell State Bank and the First Interstate Bank. She later moved to Artesia, New Mexico, and worked in bookkeeping. In 2010, Barbara returned to Roswell.

Surviving Barbara are her three children: Lettie Musick, Debbie Patton and husband Russ, Danny Mendoza and wife Chamarie; grandchildren: Josh Mendoza and wife Kristina, Cory Russell and wife Amanda, Zach Mendoza, Ammarae Rossi, and Tania Mendoza; greatgrandchildren: Katalina Mendoza, Oliver Steel Russell, Deacon Eli Russell, Ariyah Mendoza, Zowie Moreno, and Brooklynn Moreno; as well as her niece, Abby Devoto and family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her grandparents: Charlie and Nancy Turnbow, Francis “Bud,” and Minnie Collins; parents, Lee and Edith Collins; siblings: Maurice Collins, Erma Collins, and Patsy Collins; as well as her beloved dog, Daisy.
