The Roswell location of Hobby Lobby was ordered to close its store to the public on Saturday by the New Mexico State Police.

New Mexico public health orders, as modified on April 30, allow “non-essential” retail businesses to operate online, by curbside service or delivery, if their business licenses allow them do so. But the physical retail space itself for non-essential operations must remain closed.

New Mexico State Police Public Information Officer Ray Wilson said that the agency received a complaint about the store being open, so it acted to close the store, which is located at 4501 N. Main St.

“Today officers responded and issued a cease-and-desist order to Hobby Lobby,” said Wilson. “Hobby Lobby was receptive to the order. They were cooperative and closed without any issues.”

Hobby Lobby sells arts and craft items, party supplies, fabric and home decor items.
