Ruben Esquivel Sr.

Our beloved Ruben Esquivel Sr. went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2020. He was born in Gómez Palacio, Durango on June 2, 1947 to Angel and Marina Lopez Esquivel. Ruben was married to the love of his life, Silvia for 52 years. Together, they raised four children; Ruben Esquivel Jr, Cristina Antenucci (Mark), Diana Carrasco (Pilar), and Erika Martinez. He loved and cherished his grandchildren; Miriana, Justin, Isabella, Illiana, Xai and Abbygael.

Ruben began his music career at a young age. He then immigrated to Roswell NM, where he continued his music career and later worked for the City of Roswell Parks Department where he retired in 2012 after 25 years of service.

Ruben was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church where he served on the church council and utilized his musical talent at the 12 o’clock Mass and prayer meetings as well as volunteering in numerous church functions.

Ruben’s pride and joy was watching his grandchildren grow up and become accomplished young adults. He loved spending time with his wife and caring for her. Ruben will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters, two siblings Refugia and Cruz, sisters-in-law Dolores and Josefina; son-in-law Christopher, and his greatly missed nephew Carlos Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, his children, grandchildren, his brothers Francisco, Carlos, Jose and Lorenzo, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 19th at 9:30am followed by Mass at 10:00am at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Those serving as pallbearers are Mark, Pilar, Lorenzo Jr, George, Justin and Xai; honorary pallbearers are Miriana, Isabella, Illiana and Abbygael.
