Barbara DeSilva, loving wife, and mother of two children passed away suddenly at the age of 74 on Friday, May 15, 2020.
Barbara was born on September 17, 1945 in Wiesbaden, Germany to Herbert Rhode and Irma (Rhode) Garcia. In 1966 she married and immigrated to the United States where she lived in San Diego, California and eventually settled in Palm Springs, California.
Barbara excelled in academics, spoke many languages, and worked in the field of medical coding. She had a great passion for the outdoors, her pets, and her garden, where she spent countless hours tending to both.
Her greatest achievement, however, was being a mother to her sweet boys, Mike and Tom. Barbara met her current husband KT DeSilva, moved to Roswell, New Mexico and were married on June 30, 1998, where they have remained until her passing.
Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her husband KT De Silva; her son Michael Stenzel, wife Dana and children Jacob, Matthew and Erin of Palm Desert, California; son Thomas Stenzel, wife Vicki and child Samantha of La Mesa, California. Stepchildren Sampath De Silva of Sri Lanka; and Kerthi De Silva of Barstow, California.
She is also survived by her mother Irma Garcia; and sister Regina Story, husband John and children Austin, Taylor, and John III, of Sebring, Florida; and her niece Monica Geiger of Washington.
She was proceeded in death by her sister Lisa Woodcock. Barbara also leaves behind many additional relatives and friends both in the U.S. and Germany.
Barbara, though not a religious person, has always believed in a higher power. May she rest in peace.
