Harrison (Harry) Rose

Harrison (Harry) Rose, 95, formerly of Erie, Pennsylvania and Roswell, New Mexico passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020 of natural causes at the Manor House in Seaford, Delaware.

Harry was a vice-president of Charles B. Padden and Son, a well-known paint and wallpaper chain in the tristate area surrounding Erie, Pennsylvania.

During his over 33 years in Roswell, Harry was a dedicated member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, where he whole heartedly embraced its various ministries. He was a committed supporter of the Historical Society for Southeast New Mexico where he served as a docent. Harry was well known for his historical tours of the Roswell and Southeastern New Mexican communities.

Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joanne. He is survived by his son, David (Bonnie) and his daughter, Heidi/Anne (Eric). Harry was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Benjamin Rose, Abigail Klakring, Melissa Garcia, Heidi Collins, and Carol Ortiz and 7 great-grandchildren.

Harry proudly served in the Navy during World War II as a sonar operator on three sub chaser/patrol craft vessels. He served in five maritime theaters: Atlantic, Caribbean, Pacific, Sea of Japan and Bering Sea (Aleutian theater). He willingly shared these experiences with historians, high school students, and the community.

The family would like to thank Harry’s faithful and loving caregiver for many years, Lori Lopez, and the Manor House staff for their concern, compassion, and care since his move to Delaware.

Internment with military honors will be held later in Roswell where Harry will lay in rest with his wife, Joanne.
