The Rev. Dr. Kathryn X. King, 64, local holistic healer, civil liberties activist, a foster mother to numerous children in Roswell and surrounding area, and former bookstore owner died peacefully in her Hagerman, NM home Sunday, April 19, 2020 attended by her dearest friends Rita Perez, Savina Loya, and Donna Lou Johnson of Roswell, NM.

Ms. King, native New Mexican and longtime Hagerman resident, was born Kathryn Xan King November 9, 1955 in Roswell to Dianne (Potter) and Aubrey King. Ms. King was predeceased by both her parents, her beloved grandmother, Loree (Anderson) Bradshaw of Bakersfield, one brother, Phillip Stephen King, of Roswell, aunts, Cynthia Hope Spicer of Roswell and Christine West of Texas, as well as cousins Elizabeth Rachelle Potter Yousef “Shelly” of Texas, Kenneth Neil of Colorado, and Zee Anderson of Roswell.

Ms. King is survived by her three children: Dallas Challenger of Arizona, sons, Aubrey Portwood (Ashley) of Rio Rancho and Robin Portwood (Misty) of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Keylea, Aiden, Conner, Lexie and Tessa.

Kathryn King is also survived by her siblings Carrolyn Perry (Beau) of Chowchilla, Tommy King of Jacksonville, Judy King of Roswell, Loree Griffith of Denver, Timothy King of Perth, Australia and Dianna Hendrickson (Ross) of Artesia.

She also leaves behind beloved cousins: Sandy Potter (Beth) and Christie Potter Allred Humphrey (Phillip) both of Texas, Cindy Pugh Watson (Kelly) of Texas, Rick Spicer (Christina) of Roswell, Jimmy Spicer of Texas, Monica Bride Tuttle (Jeffrey) of Nevada, as well as aunts, Shryl Pugh (Jimmy) of Big Sandy, Texas and Jan Madson of Anchorage, Alaska.
