No new COVID-19 cases in Chaves County

For the fourth day in a row, Chaves County has not had any additional confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The New Mexico Department of Health announced 124 new cases on Monday and 143 on Sunday, bringing the state total to 9,062.

Chaves County’s total number of cases is 49.

Four New Mexico deaths were reported on both Sunday and Monday, bringing that total statewide to 400.

The deaths reported both days included one in Bernalillo County, four from McKinley County and three from San Juan County. All but one, a man in his 30s from San Juan County, were age 60 or older. Five had underlying health conditions. Five were hospitalized and two were residents of long-term care or acute care facilities.

New cases reported Monday show northwest New Mexico continues to lead the state in cases — 50 in McKinley County, 26 in San Juan County, 17 in Doña Ana County and 10 in Bernalillo County.

Eddy, Lea, Rio Arriba, Roosevelt and Sandoval counties each reported three new cases; Cibola ad Curry counties each reported two; and Otero and San Miguel counties each reported one.

Previously reported numbers included one case in San Juan County that has been identified as a duplicate and one case in San Juan County that has been determined to be an out-of-state resident. These have now been corrected, according to Monday’s report.

As of Monday, 183 people are hospitalized in the state for COVID-19, up six from Sunday. The number of those designated as recovered increased by 73 from Sunday’s report to 3,307.

The state has analyzed 238,801 tests including 4,624 in Chaves County.
