Chaves County has gone a second day without any new COVID-19 cases, but the state is reporting 88 additional positive tests across New Mexico on Tuesday, including 64 in northwest counties.

The daily New Mexico Department of Health announcement also indicated that seven more COVID-19-related deaths have occurred in New Mexico.

According to the most recently released data, Chaves County now has a total of 59 diagnosed cases out of 5,176 tests. Of those who tested positive, 28 are classified as recovered. Two deaths of county residents have occurred, both in March.

Statewide, 9,933 people have tested positive out of 271,553 tests administered, and 156 are now hospitalized. To date, 447 deaths have been reported.

Of the new cases announced on Tuesday, 64 were in the northwest counties of Bernalillo, Cibola, McKinley, Sandoval, San Juan, Santa Fe and Valencia. The seven deaths included three in McKinley, three in San Juan and one in Cibola. All were in their 50s or older, and all but two — a man in his 70s and a man in his 90s — were said to have underlying conditions.
