Lifelong cattleman, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, George Price, 77, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020. He had just celebrated his 58th year of marriage to Sharion on June 10, 2020. George was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Bertie Price.

George is survived by his son, Dane Price and wife Meg; daughter, LeAnne Gandy and husband Larry Gandy; son, Brian Price and wife Lana; George was so proud of his grandsons: Adam Price, Quinton Ellis, Jarrod Ellis, and Cory Price; and granddaughters Catherine Price and Ashley Price.

He was preceded in death by his grandson and good buddy, Skylar Ellis. George has one great-granddaughter, Hayley Ellis, daughter of Skylar. He has an older brother, Farrell Price, older sister Kathleen Bauer, and younger sister Penny Sutton. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Gerald Price.

George was a lifelong rancher and took over his family ranch outside of Hagerman, New Mexico, in 1980. In 1998, George began his second career as a Brand Inspector for the New Mexico Livestock Board. Never one to shy away from a challenge or be intimidated by adversity, George entered the New Mexico State Police Academy to become a certified peace officer as a Brand Inspector. Although he was in his mid-40s, he had no difficulty keeping up with other cadets half his age. His only real challenge was trading in his boots for a pair of tennis shoes for running. While with the Livestock Board, George was a certified firearms instructor for the State of New Mexico and was awarded Brand Inspector of the Year in 2006.

George was a man of strong moral character that was known, and will be remembered by all, for his integrity and kind heart.

A memorial service honoring George will take place at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home in Roswell, NM, on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at 10:00 AM.
