Peggy Seskey hands a Roswell UFO Festival apron to Gioia Cover as she and Anne Cover and Timothy Cover, all of Justin, Texas, check out the 2020 Virtual UFO Festival merchandise booth Friday afternoon on the lawn of the Chaves County Courthouse. With the festival canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the booth was the only live event this year. Visitors could shop for merchandise and get a passport to have stamped at local businesses to exchange for a “swag bag” of festival collectibles. Events such as the costume contest and Galacticon Sci-Fi Film Fest were moved online. Gioia Cover said she was a “die hard” festival fan. “We couldn’t miss this one whether it was going to happen or not,” she said.
