Bonifacio N. Sanchez Jr.

Bonifacio N. Sanchez Jr., also known as “Kokeno,” entered into eternal life on Friday, June 26, 2020 in Lubbock, Tx. He will be cremated per his wishes and will be greatly missed.

Bonifacio was born in Carlsbad, NM to Bonifacio F. Sanchez Sr. and Marcelina N. Sanchez on September 10, 1934. He had lived in Carlsbad for quite a few years prior to his move to Artesia. There he settled in and married his first love of his life, Mary B. Sanchez, until she preceded him in death. He then was fortunate to have met and married Gloria G. Sanchez, and eventually made his move to Roswell which became his permanent home for approximately the last 47 years. Bonifacio and Gloria created one large blended family however she eventually preceded him in death as well. Bonifacio had worked for Ryan Construction Company out of Artesia before he retired. He was an amazing craftsman who worked on construction and house painting. He had a natural ability in doing that and took great pleasure in perfecting his craft. While living his life of retirement he enjoyed spending time taking morning walks with his precious “Cha Cha,” his Yorkshire Terrier. Those two were inseperable and they both meant the world to each other.

Those left to cherish his memory is his fur baby companion “Cha Cha,” his children; Israel B. Sanchez of Roswell, Bonnie B. Sanchez Jr. of Roswell, Sergio G. Flores and his wife Nancy of Odessa, Tx., Marisa C. Rodriguez and her husband Raul of Stanton, Tx., Vonnie S. Tardy of Roswell, Sonya S. Garcia and her husband Michael of Roswell, and Karen G. Sanchez of Roswell. His Grandchildren; Dezi, Eddy, Shaddik, Sudden, Seairra, Byanka, Eko, Stormy, Shady, Gus, Vanessa, Veronica, Victor, Ventura, Vanity, Joshua, Matt, Yazmin, Zolia, Tina, William, Betty Joe, Frankie, and Joshua; along with great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

His siblings; Santos Sanchez of Artesia, NM., Joe Sanchez and his wife Arcelia, Raymond Sanchez and his wife Delores, Manuel Sanchez and his wife Nena and Frank Sanchez who are all from Roswell, Samuel Sanchez and his wife Corina from Carlsbad, NM., Jimmy Sanchez and his wife Elfida of Artesia, NM.

Bonifacio was preceded in death, yet reunited with his parents, Bonifacio F. Sanchez Sr. and Marcelina N. Sanchez, his wife Maria B. Sanchez, his wife Gloria G. Sanchez, and companion Emma Baiza; his children who were infants Bonifacio B. Sanchez Jr., Vonnie and Bertha G. Sanchez (twins), Saul G. Sanchez (4 years old); additional children were Frank “Pancho” Matta, Bobby B. Sanchez, Rosemary B. Sanchez-Soto and Saul G. Sanchez. His grandchildren; Jessica Acevedo, Vonyy “VonVon” Sanchez and Eduardo Soto Jr. His siblings, Lilia S. Ortega, Juan Sanchez, Antonio Sanchez, Delores S. Hernandez and Albesa Sanchez.

The Sanchez Family would like to thank family, friends and the medical staff from the Roswell and Lubbock hospitals for their expressions of kindness and sympathy during this difficult time. The family would like to particularly thank Juan Dominguez for always being a close, caring and thoughtful friend to the family throughout the years.
