Ethel Lynn Werner

Ethel Lynn Werner passed on July 7, 2020. Born in 1938 in Carrizozo, NM, she was raised by Edgar and Hattie Phillips on the Pfingston ranch (of which Edgar was foreman) in Lincoln, NM. In her youth, she was a skilled barrel racer, and fair queen.

Lynn married her loving husband John Werner soon after graduation from Capitan High School and they had four children.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the College of Santa Fe, and a Masters degree in Piano performance from Texas Tech University. She was an accomplished pianist from an early age and eventually became a teacher of both piano and voice. She and her husband organized local musical groups in multiple small communities around New Mexico. Lynn taught multiple generations of students over the years and helped many young people achieve success in music and in life.

She is preceded in death by her husband John Werner, parents Hattie and Edgar Phillips, brothers; Richard Phillips, Joe Phillips, and sister, Mary Lou Welsh and survived by her four children; Mary-Lynn Brown, Melanie Werner-Menadue, John Ty Werner, Alan Werner, 10 Grandchildren, and 4 Great Grandchildren.

Due to Corona Virus restrictions, her memorial service will be delayed until a future date.
