Diane Cecile Marbach Schmidt

Diane Cecile Marbach Schmidt, 60, of Richmond, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 with her husband Bill at her side. Diane was born on June 10, 1960 in San Antonio, Texas, to Robert and Lois Marbach. She grew up in Roswell, New Mexico with her sister, Susan, and two brothers, Kevin and David, whom she adored. She graduated from Robert Goddard High School, and went on to earn her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from New Mexico State University in 1982. In 1983, Diane married the love of her life, Bill Schmidt, and together they made their home in Richmond, Texas and were blessed with 2 sons, Kyle and Michael.

Diane worked for Newmark Homes until 1997 when she retired to raise her boys. As a family, they frequently traveled, but their favorite place to visit as a family was in Cancun, Mexico. Diane was a loving mother who devoted her time to Kyle and Michael’s sporting endeavors, and always had her home open to friends and family. Once Kyle and Michael were raised, she returned to work for the City of Richmond. She and Bill travelled all over the United States and the world visiting many European countries and cruised to many other worldwide destinations. Diane loved to read, scrapbook, play Bunco and was an avid golfer. She was a member of the Pecan Grove Country Club where she held many positions, including the President of the Women’s Golf Association. Diane was also a member of River Pointe Church where she founded the cancer ministry, was active in Home Team groups and participated in several women’s bible studies.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lois, her brother Kevin, her mother in-law, Glenda Schmidt, and her nephew Jacob Schmidt.  Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her husband Bill, her sons Kyle (Christa) and Michael. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first grandson in November. Diane also is survived by her sister Susan Pool (Sonny), her brother David (Shannon), sister in-law Janey Marbach, father in-law Fred Schmidt, brothers/sisters-in-law Bob Schmidt (Tricia), Christy Sovereign (John), Brian Schmidt (Jennifer), step-sister Becky Lombard, 12 nieces and nephews, 5 great nieces and nephews, her extended family and friends who will miss her.

In lieu of flowers, Diane has requested donations to be made to the American Brain Tumor Association.

A memorial service will be held for Diane at 3:00 pm on Saturday. July 18, 2020 at River Pointe Church at 21000 Southwest Freeway, Richmond, TX 77469. Doors open at 2:00 pm.
