Police are searching for information that could lead to the identification of a man who broke into a local pharmacy and stole multiple bottles of prescription drugs.

Todd Wildermuth, public information officer for the Roswell Police Department, said as of Wednesday, no arrests had been made and the investigation into the incident was ongoing. He said he does not know how many calls offering information have been made to the RPD.

The incident took place July 13 at about 12:30 a.m. at the Farmer’s Country Market Uptown location in the 2800 block of North Main Street, according to a press release from the Roswell Police Department.

Surveillance footage from the store’s security cameras showed a man — with his face partially covered and wearing a hat — falling through the ceiling into the store pharmacy. He is then shown taking the bottles of prescription medication, climbing the pharmacy’s security gate and exiting through the hole in the ceiling panels.

The press release states the man is believed to have entered the store after cutting a hole in the roof of the building. After gaining access to the store’s crawlspace or attic, he then created another hole, which provided him access to the ceiling panels above the pharmacy. It is believed the ceiling panels were unable to support the weight of the burglar, leading him to fall through the panels and into the pharmacy.

Police hope someone will recognize the man based on photos of the suspect from the store’s security cameras. Investigators, according to the press release, believe he might have tattoos on his right forearm.

The suspect is also shown talking on what appears to be a walkie-talkie device, leading police to believe he might have had an accomplice.

Individuals with information about the case are asked to contact either the Roswell Police Department at 575-624-6770 or Chaves County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-594-8477.
