Alice Rae Graham

Alice Rae Graham passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, with her family by her bedside. She was a life-long resident of Roswell, New Mexico, and was 77 years old. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with the Graham family at www.andersonbethany.com.

Alice was born on February 28, 1943, in Roswell, NM, to Bill and Ola Porter. The Porters farmed in the Berrendo area, and as one of five children, Alice loved the rural farm life and was active in 4-H, raising sheep and steers. She graduated from Roswell High School and married Hal Raulerson, having one son before Hal became an early casualty in the Vietnam War. While working at Shell Oil Company in Roswell, Alice met William (Bill) Graham, and on December 27, 1964, they began a marriage that would last over half a century.

Bill and Alice went on to raise a large family, with Alice being every bit the traditional homemaker. She managed to find the time to teach part-time at Child Garden Pre-School early on, but it was her work as a homemaker that gave her the most pride. Alice enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for every birthday party and even a wedding or two, but she will always be remembered for her large, home-cooked meals. On the rare dinner out, Alice would frequently comment, “I can make this at home…” She had no problem replicating restaurant dinners at home for the family, and along the way, taught all the kids to cook. Prayer and devotion were a large part of Alice’s life, and she prayed faithfully every day. Alice touched so many lives, and she will be greatly missed.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ola Porter; brother, Billy Porter; and sister, Marilyn Getto, and daughter Christi Wentland.

Alice is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Bill Graham; children: Charles Raulerson and wife Tessa, Eric Graham, Damon Graham and wife Betty, Aaron Graham and wife Christy, Devin Graham and wife Priscilla, and Karolyn Frazier; as well as twenty-two grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
