Keep Roswell Beautiful has received a state grant of $23,155 that will be used to help beautify the community in a variety of ways, according to a press release issued by the city of Roswell.

The Roswell funding, awarded through the New Mexico Tourism Department’s Clean and Beautiful Grant Program, is designated for projects that include litter cleanup and related advertising, graffiti eradication, gardening workshops, watering equipment, Arbor Day activities and landscaping at Spring River Zoo.

The grant will also allow Keep Roswell Beautiful to hire some youth interns to help with the projects, according to the press release.

Keep Roswell Beautiful, which is managed by the City of Roswell, is one of 37 entities to receive funding this year through the state program.

“Our outdoor spaces are incredibly valuable outlets as people look for ways to recreate while social distancing,” state Tourism Cabinet Secretary Jen Paul Schroer said in announcing the grant awards this week. “This grant program empowers communities and equips them with resources they need to keep ‘New Mexico True’ for residents and visitors alike.”
