Daily Record to eliminate Saturday print edition

Roswell Daily Record management announced earlier this week that the newspaper’s publication frequency will be reduced from six days per week to five days per week beginning in September.

The newspaper, starting Sept. 5, will stop publishing a print edition on Saturdays.

It will publish Tuesday through Friday and on Sunday, with added emphasis placed on the Sunday edition, traditionally the newspaper’s largest and most widely read publication.

The Daily Record will continue reporting breaking news daily online, including on Saturdays, at rdrnews.com. Publisher Barbara Beck and Editor John Dilmore wrote in a joint op-ed published today, “Breaking news that occurs on Fridays will still make it to readers — online — within a regular news cycle. We’ve operated throughout this pandemic and don’t plan on taking any days off.”

The full op-ed, which explains in more detail the decision, appears on page A4 of today’s edition.
