Susan Mitchell Gray, a friend to many, passed away on February 6, 2020, in Roswell, NM. She was 63 years old.

Susan was born May 1, 1957, in Roswell, NM, to the late Doy and Charlene Mitchell. She attended Roswell schools and graduated from Roswell High School in 1957. After graduating Susan left home and served in the United States Marine Corps. Susan attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM earning a Master’s degree. She worked for TMC until the company closed, but continued working for Rapid Transportation Systems in Roswell, NM for many years. She enjoyed her job in shipping and receiving that sometimes required she travel to different parts of the country. For the past fourteen years Susan worked as the caretaker of the Ponderosa center. She was a dedicated worker and also enjoyed tending the vegetable garden on the property. Susan had a love for fishing and going to the Casino’s in Ruidoso, NM whenever she could.

Services: Graveside service will be held for Susan on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at 11:00 am at the South Park Cemetery. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place at a later time due to the COVID-19 situation.

Survivors: Susan is survived by her siblings, Larry Mitchell of Phoenix, AZ, and Charlotte Scott of St. Cloud, FL. Stepson, John Gray of Roswell, NM. Other family members include numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Susan will be missed by all who knew her as someone who was always there to help in any way she could. Susan also leaves behind her precious Chihuahua, “Lady Vaga”.

Preceded: Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Doy Clarence Mitchell and Charlene Looney Mitchell; brother David Mitchell and stepdaughter Tarinda, Ann Gray.
