It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Shalane Marie (Gundersen) Garcia. She passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020, at the age of 34, with her family by her side, following a brief illness. Shalane was born on May 30, 1986, in Odessa, Texas, to Thomas Hammond and Patricia Gundersen.

We will always remember Shalane’s beautiful smile and loving heart. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Some of Shalane’s greatest joys in life came from spending time with her five children: Cassie and Alex Garcia, and Ayden, Ethan, and Aubrianna Gonzales; they were her world.

Shalane will also be dearly missed by her fiancé, Michael Gonzales; mother, Patricia Gundersen (Hiram Hudson); sister, Krista Gundersen; niece, Kinslee Dugan; grandparents: Donald and Patsy Easton; grandmother, Linda Cox; father and mother-in-law to be: Michael and Sandy Gonzales; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

We take comfort in knowing that Shalane accepted Christ as her savior before her passing. Although she was taken way too soon, we feel comfort in knowing she will no longer be suffering. Shalane is now reunited in heaven with her first daughter, Ashlynn; cousin, Eric Cox; fathers: Thomas Hammond and Wesley Reed Gundersen; as well as her grandfather, Jack Cox.

She worked at Peachtree Retirement Village and loved Ms. June B and all the residents, staff, and caregivers.
