Barbara McKnight Bowser, age 82, passed away August 10, 2020 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

She will be laid to rest with graveside services in South Park Cemetery in Roswell, New Mexico on Friday September 18, 2020.

She is survived by a daughter, Eleanor and son in-law Paul Bellis, grandson, Nic Romero, granddaughter Charlotte Bellis and great-grandson, Paulito Bellis, her only sister, Martha McKnight Proctor, and nephews Tim and Todd Proctor as well as a niece, Altina Shelly.

Barbara graduated from Hondo High School in 1955. She was married to Fritzie Bowser from Picacho. Barbara attended UNM in Albuquerque. She graduated in 1959 and started teaching in Kirtland, New Mexico. She later taught in California followed by several years of living and teaching in Spain, Peru, and Mexico. She returned to California where she taught in Vallejos.

In 1979 she moved back to New Mexico where she received her Masters in Speech and Language Pathology. She taught in the Las Cruces school systems as well as White Sands Schools while doing a great deal of individual counseling. She loved teaching and helped many students to have better lives.

After retiring a year or so she accepted another teaching job in Juvenile Detention Center in Las Cruces. Barbara never saw the bad in anyone, and her real devotion was with animals. In lieu of flowers one may make a donation to any humane society of their choice.
