Vitalant, formerly known as United Blood Services, is in urgent need of type O-negative blood. O-negative blood can be transfused to patients of all other blood types, therefore it is used first after a car crash or disaster.
Vitalant strives to maintain a four-day supply of O-negative blood. Currently, they have half of that, according to a press release from the organization.
O-negative blood donors — and any other donors — may call or text Stephanie Seabrease at 575-840-8178, or call the Vitalant office, No. 3 Grand Avenue Plaza, at 575-625-9743, with any questions or to schedule an appointment.
