For the second time this month, the Roswell Fire Department was dispatched Sunday to put out a fire at a vacant apartment complex in south Roswell.

Crews were called to the Town Plaza Apartment Complex in the 1200 block of West McGaffey Street at about 9:30 p.m., Todd Wildermuth, public information officer with the Roswell Fire Department, said Monday.

The blaze was in one apartment on the north side of the complex and caused some damage to an adjacent apartment, Wildermuth said.

Within about an hour the fire was contained and crews remained on the scene until midnight. Wildermuth added no one was found in the apartment or injured, and the cause is under investigation.

Fire crews in the late afternoon of Sept. 9 responded to a similar incident when the Department received multiple calls from nearby residents of smoke coming from the middle of the building. That fire was also contained by crews to one apartment, and no one was injured.
