The Roswell Daily Record was recognized with 19 individual and staff awards during the New Mexico Press Association’s annual awards-presentation ceremony on Monday.

The awards ceremony — honoring the achievements of newspaper staffs around the state — is normally held during an annual convention attended by hundreds of media members from throughout New Mexico.

Due to restrictions created by the pandemic, this year’s recognition was carried out in the form of a livestreamed event Monday morning.

The event’s theme — ‘Newspapers Rising to the Challenge’ — recognized the work done by newspapers as they have provided their communities with news and information in the face of numerous challenges in 2020.

Daily Record Publisher Barbara Beck said of the Daily Record staff’s awards, “I am happy to announce that we have won again this year at the 112th annual New Mexico Press Association ‘Newspapers Rising to the Challenge’ Better Newspaper Contest, with a total of 19 awards.
