MainStreet Roswell was honored last week by affiliated state groups for its innovation and strength during the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Mexico MainStreet and the New Mexico Resiliency Alliance held a Resiliency Virtual Award Ceremony and presented one of the MainStreet Resiliency Awards to the MainStreet Roswell organization and its executive director, Kathy Lay.

The certificate recognizes the local group and its team for its work regarding local economic revitalization and redevelopment in spite of the challenges presented by the coronavirus crisis. The honor noted the innovation of the virtual Chile Cheese Festival and its downtown scavenger hunt with 38 participating businesses.

“I am so grateful to our hardworking board, who are all volunteers, for giving so much of their time and energy to support our downtown,” said Lay, “and to all the downtown businesses and community partners who work together with us to keep the district vibrant.”
