Reservation deadline for HSSNM drive-thru fundraiser

The board of directors for the Historical Society for Southeast New Mexico is hosting a Christmas drive-thru fundraiser on Dec. 6, which includes a special event menu by Peppers Grill & Bar. Pick-up time is from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with first stop at HSSNM Museum to pick up the reserved tickets. From there, ticket holders pick up their dinner at Peppers Grill & Bar, also as drive-thru in its parking lot. There will also be special events happening on the radio and a silent auction. Winter Wonderland

The annual Winter Wonderland benefiting the Chaves County CASA and the Artesia Advocacy Center is going to be virtual this year and include a historic Jeep raffle and a silent auction. Christmas Railway

A limited amount of tickets each night are available: From Nov. 27 to 29, Dec. 4 to 6, Dec. 11 to 13, Dec. 16 to 24, Dec. 26 to 27; 5 to 9 p.m. daily. Due to potential restrictions from the New Mexico Governor’s Office, the train ride may be limited to children 12 and under and a guardian. For more information, visit roswellchristmasrailway.com.

Riddle Room at RMAC

There is a secret to be found, mysterious hidden messages that were put in place by past Roswell Artist-in-Residence members. Can you beat the clock and find at least 12 clues before the hour is over? The RMAC Riddle Room is open to groups of up to five people, due to the governor’s regulations. Masks are required. For the safety of the groups, only three groups per day are permitted into the room, to have enough time to sanitize everything before the next group arrives. The riddles are best for participants 16 years or older. For more information and to reserve a spot, call 575-624-6744.

Veterans Day Parade

The American Legion Post No. 61 is hosting the annual Veterans Day Parade at the Chaves County Courthouse, from 9 to 10 a.m. This year’s theme is Korea: 1950 – Today, The Never Ending War. For more information, visit its Facebook event page, visit RoswellLegion.org or call 575-268-0220.

Grace Gospel Show

Grace Community Church, 935 W. Mescalero Road, is inviting the public to its Grace Gospel Show, with a special tribute to our heroic veterans, at 1 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The show features Kenny Lewis, Sean Lee, Tom Blake, Dwain and Jill Votaw, Carl Thompson, Mark Parham, Jerry Berg, Jack and Julie Ferguson and the Grace Community Church Praise Band. You Can Draw! Free fundamentals workshop

The Night Drawing Facebook group, under guidance of artist Phillip Skeen, offers a free workshop, to learn fundamentals of drawing at Black Cock Brewery, 1719 SE Main St., at 6 p.m. This workshop includes anatomy, gesture, construction and perspective in drawing. This event is ideal for beginners, but contains valuable content for artists of nearly all levels. Materials will be provided and members will be given assignments to demonstrate their skills. Superhero salute, drive-thru BBQ

Avamere Health Services, 2725 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is offering from noon to 2 p.m. complimentary lunch to veterans, active military duty members and first responders, just bring your ID. The general public can purchase lunch for a small fee. The lunch includes choice of cheeseburger or green chile cheeseburger, potato wedges or chips and drink of choice. Postponed until after the pandemic restrictions lift

Bowl for Kids’ Sake

The annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake, which benefits the nonprofit organization Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern New Mexico, has been postponed until restrictions due to the COVID-19 crisis are lifted. For more information, visit bbbssenm.org or its Facebook page.
