ALICE ROBINSON BASINGER HICKS, 66, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020, in Roswell, New Mexico. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Alice’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

SERVICES: There will be a Viewing at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Sunday, November 8, 2020, from 1:00 to 6:00 PM. A Star Mason will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 9, 2020, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at General Douglas L. McBride Veterans Cemetery.

On August 22, 1954, Alice was born to RC and Joyce Robinson in Sweatland, Texas. Upon graduating from High School, she attended Barstow Community College and later attended classes at the Eastern New Mexico University of Roswell, where she received her Associate’s Degree. Alice was a proud US Army Veteran, who served in the Civil Service, Fort Irwin, California. Throughout her life, she worked as a private duty nurse, head start teacher, probation officer, and a foster parent. Alice later gained a passion for cooking and was the owner and operator of Sweet Soul Food for over twenty years. She received a Business Woman of the Year Award.

Alice was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughter of Isis, and Lions Club. She received a Worthy Matron Award for her worthiness and dedication. Alice was a devoted church member of the Washington Chapel. She was a kind soul who loved helping others. Alice would donate food baskets, clothing, and blankets for those in need. She enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, bingo, cooking, and traveling. Alice was a “Dallas Cowboy” fan and loved watching their games. She will truly be missed by her loved ones and all who were blessed to have known Alice.

SURVIVORS: Alice leaves behind her children: Georgia Basinger, Virginia Duran of Dallas, Texas, Angel and Ben Flores of Washington, Almetra Strange, Presell Gilder (Norma) of Amarillo; grandchild, Aislonn Rouse; siblings: Betty Giles and James of North Carolina, Emma Robinson of Taylor, Texas, Pearline House and husband Robert of Roswell, Darline Steward and husband Mark of Colorado, Lillie Tave of Roswell, Jennifer Marcus and Frank of Dallas, Joe “Rabbit” Robinson of Texas, David Allen, Freddie Allen, James Allen, and Johnny Allen and Roberta; aunts and uncles: James Etta Bledsoe and Wayne of Temple, Texas, Emma Richards of Waco, Texas, Ernest Smith and Jennifer; a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews; as well as her close friends: Donna and Santos Franco, Steve “Your Budget Carlot,” Ivie Smith and Raymond.

PRECEDED: Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Joe R. Hicks; son, Tony Strange; grandson, Alfred L. Basinger; parents: RC Robinson and Joyce Allen; siblings: Howard Earl Allen Jr., Booker T. Allen, Gloria Mayo, Ms. Juanita, and Alberta Alford.

HONORARY PALLBEARERS: Ben Flores, Johnny Allen, Aaron Vegara, David Allen, James Allen, Charles Harper, Raymond Smith, Michael Amador, James Edwards.

PALLBEARERS: Louis Vizcarrano, Freddie Allen, Floyd Bell, Robert Hickman, Harun Williams, Jazelo Allen, Ron McKnight, and Torian McKnight.
