Jimmy Don Pack was born in Roswell, New Mexico on April 25,1934. He was the ninth of thirteen children born to Jesse Elick and Vada Ellen Pack, better known as “Daddy and Mama Pack”. He left this life and entered peacefully into his eternal reward on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Roswell and grew up farming with his family. He continued farming, mainly cotton, wheat, corn, and alfalfa, for all of his life. At the peak of his career he farmed around 5000 acres. He was of the generation that would be excused from school when it was time to plant or harvest the crops. His parents even flew him home from college to pull rows because no one else could do it as well as Jimmy. Recently, until the day he left this world, he continued to say that he just wanted to get on a tractor and get back out in the field.

He attended school in Roswell and later attended high school and college at Southwestern Assemblies of God Bible School in Waxahachie, Texas until 1957. Much more than a farmer, Jimmy was a talented singer, musician and artist. While in college, he was in a traveling string band and played the steel guitar. He also made extra money during his college years by making and selling his tooled leatherwork. Everything he did, he did with excellence.

Jimmy married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Jean Green, in 1956 and the two were married and in love for 61 beautiful years until Wanda went home to be with Jesus in 2017. Together, they sang in the Harvester Choir at Southwestern and served in several areas of ministry at First Assembly of God Church, including being music director, and youth and Sunday School teachers for many years.

Jimmy was always a loving and deeply devoted son, brother, husband, father to his three children, grandfather to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved, respected, and admired by all who knew him.

Words fail to convey just how wonderful he really was. A man who was kind, affectionate, caring, fun loving, generous, and always handsome whether in his farm clothes or his western attire. A man who had no enemies, but had many who revered him. Who had no critics, but many who admired him. Whose life many would look to and hope to emulate. A man who truly loved God with all of his heart and proved it by the way that he lived, loved, and served. Who prayed over his crops and saw the hand and the favor of God on all the works of his hands.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Wanda Pack, his son, Gary Pack, his granddaughter Krystle Stephenson, his parents, Jesse and Vada Pack, his brothers, Eston Pack, Denzil Pack, Verdis Pack, J.E. Pack, Willie Pack, and his sisters, Penzil Craig, Dreta Hutsell, Beatrice Florence, and Darlene Rhoads, father-in-law Loyd Green and wife Ellen (Tootsie), his mother-in-law Pat Green, and his brother-in-law Marshall Green.
