Jane Flores (Orosco)

Jane Flores (Orosco) died peacefully in her home with her husband and caretakers close by on November 10, 2020 in Roswell, NM at the age of 77.

Jane is survived by her husband, Carlos Flores; children, Anna Bensinger, husband Kenny, of Roswell and Alicia Flores-Gallegos, husband Michael, of Albuquerque; siblings, Cecilia Leyva of Artesia, Manuel Orosco of Carlsbad, and Theresa Anstead of Florida. She is preceded in death by her mom, Dominga Orosco, dad, Cecil Orosco, and sister, Margaret Sedillo of Roswell.

Jane was born on May 27, 1943 in Artesia, NM to Cecil and Dominga Orosco. She graduated from Artesia High School in 1962.  She married Carlos after he returned from the Vietnam War in 1966. The couple welcomed two daughters into their home. Jane is remembered as a kind, gentle, loving and patient wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She is also remembered by the family for her Chocolate Sheet Cake and Pecan Pralines!!

After moving to Roswell, Jane began working for the Roswell Independent School District as a bilingual educational assistant. Jane eventually left the field of education, and she and Carlos pursued their dream of owning their own business. They owned and operated C & J Nursery successfully for 25 years. Jane self-educated herself on the world of plants, trees, and shrubs, which she would humbly display to customers on a daily basis.

Jane was a generous person who was loyal to her husband for 54 years and who loved her grandchildren: Gus, Gabe, and Sofia. She was also a life-long Catholic and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Roswell.

Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, November 16, 2020, 11:00 AM, at General Douglas L. McBride Veterans Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the beautiful life of Jane. The family would like to thank Pilly Acosta and Veronica Avila for the kind, gentle and superior care that they provided so that Jane could be safe and comfortable at home with her husband. Also, a special thanks to Glynn Shelton for the medical care that he gave to Jane.
