Man charged in homicide sought by police

Police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of a man who has been named a suspect in a recent homicide.

Manuel Villarreal, 36, is charged with first-degree murder, intimidation of a witness, and felon in possession of a firearm in the Nov. 20 shooting death of John Halfmann, 43, according to a press release from the Roswell Police Department Friday.

Villarreal was initially sought by police for questioning in Halfmann’s death, but he had not been charged until Friday.

“Investigators are still seeking the public’s help in providing information that could help locate Villarreal,” the release states.

Villarreal is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Halfmann was found with a gunshot wound Nov. 20 sometime before 4 a.m. in a shed on a 700 block of East Fifth Street property in Roswell. A man who lived in the shed contacted police after reportedly finding Halfmann.
