Gilbert Silvas, age 64, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020. He was born on October 12, 1956, in Pecos, Texas, to Manuel Silvas and Delia Campos. SURVIVORS: Gilbert is survived by the love of his life, his wife of thirty years, Kathi (Stephens) of Roswell; daughters: Stacey Silvas of Albuquerque, NM, Sonya Silvas of Wilmington, NC; sons: Johnny Silvas of Odessa, TX and Patrick (Morgan) Silvas of Roswell; step-father, Guadalupe Campos Sr. of Roswell; brother: Guadalupe Campos Jr (Melissa) of Amarillo, TX; his sissy, Margie Campos of Roswell; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; in-laws: Mary Stephens, Rick Stephens (Tammy), Patti Stephens and Melissa Campos (Lupe Jr.); as well as his lifelong friend, Scott Brook of Phoenix, AZ.

PRECEDED: Gilbert was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Silvas; mother, Delia Campos; grandparents: Pedro and Josephina Hernandez and Selestino and Trinidad Campos; granddaughter, Alexia Nichole Valenzuela; and father-in-law, Irvin Stephens.

Gilbert started working at a young age picking cotton in the fields with his mom and grandfather and working at places like A-1 Auto Parts, Piziano Auto Parts, Davenport Builders and almost 20 years at TMC/MCI Bus Plant. He was a stay-at-home Foster Dad to at least 8 children and recently retired as Maintenance Director from Sunset Villa Care Center after 7 years.

An avid sportsman Gilbert, enjoyed baseball, football, basketball, softball, golf and bowling. If he wasn’t playing, he was watching. Gilbert taught his kids everything he could but most importantly he taught them Love. He was a member of Grace Community Church and worked alongside his wife on any event she would plan. For the past six years, Gilbert volunteered at the annual Walk for Hope helping in any way he could.
