Graveside services were held for Doris (Dee) Shorey on December 11, 2020. She passed away at home on December 10th of natural causes.

Her parents, husband, and all of her siblings preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Leon Shorey, Jr. and Mark Shorey; a daughter, Dawn Shorey; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a special person, Glenn Reusching.

Doris was born on October 24, 1932 in Auburn, California to Richard and Anna Weyman, the youngest of 8 children. She was raised in and around Auburn and Sacramento until December 1951, when she married Leon Richard Shorey and moved around the world with the United States Air Force.

Doris and her husband first arrived in Roswell at Walker Air Force Base in 1959. When her husband retired from the Air Force in 1969, they returned to Roswell. When her husband passed away in 1972, Doris helped her three children through college. She then returned to school herself to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting at the University of New Mexico. Between 1981 and 1994, she worked for the Department of Interior Inspector General as a federal auditor in Albuquerque, Washington D.C., Guam, and Saipan. She resided in Roswell since her retirement from federal service in 1994.
