One person is dead and two others hospitalized following a Thursday head-on collision in a Roswell residential neighborhood.
The deceased, a 31-year-old woman, died in the two-vehicle crash between 10:30 and 11 a.m. near Union Avenue and West College Boulevard, according to Todd Wildermuth, public information officer with the Roswell Police Department.
One of the vehicles, an SUV, crashed through a brick wall outside a house.
Firefighters later could be seen climbing into the SUV to extract an individual who was subsequently taken by ambulance to a hospital. The second vehicle remained in the street, heavily damaged.
RPD officers, along with Chaves County deputies and personnel from both the Roswell Fire Department and Superior Ambulance responded to the crash. The area was closed off to traffic for much of the day, with motorists forced to seek alternate routes.
