SERVICES: A Viewing for Richard will be at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Monday, January 4, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at General Douglas L. McBride Veterans Cemetery.

On April 17, 1948, Richard was born to Verlyn and Gertrude Dunbarr in Richmond, California. He graduated at Armijo Fairfield, CA, and attended classes at the Eastern New Mexico University of Roswell. Richard initially enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and continued serving his service in the United States Army. During Richard’s military service, he was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Medal, National Service Medal with Bronze Star, Special Forces, Ranger, Airborne, and many more. He was a proud Veteran whose heart was to serve his country. Richard retired from the Army and was honorably discharged after twenty-one years of active duty.

Richard was the beloved husband of Mary Dunbarr, whom he married on July 6, 1970, in Vacaville, California, and were together fifty golden years. After retiring from the military, he worked for the Postal Service. Richard was a community Scout Master volunteer for the Boys Scouts. He was part of the Fraternal Order Police and Jewish Holocaust charities. Richard enjoyed fishing, woodworking and cooking, especially for the holidays. He loved working in the garden with his fruits and veggies. Richard was dearly loved, and he will be missed by his family and friend.

SURVIVORS: Richard leaves behind the love of his life, Mary H. Dunbarr; children: Eugene Dunbarr, Justin Dunbarr, Michael Dunbarr; daughter-in-law: Angela Dunbarr; grandchildren: Tristan Dunbarr, Lauren Dunbarr, Zen Bustamante, Ye’Vette Dunbarr (Zachariah), and Markus Dunbarr; great-grandchildren: Lilah Duran and Legacy Dunbarr; siblings: Daniel Dunbarr, Larry Dunbarr, Patty Wall, Bonnie Petty John, Mary Hernandez, KathyWiliamson, Carol Dunbarr, and Billy Dunbarr; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his precious “sidekick” Buster, and his other beloved pets: Tessie, JR, Zelda, and Sugar.

PRECEDED: Preceding Richard in death were his parents, Verlyn and Gertrude Dunbarr; and sisters: Linda Bashor and Peggy Aguilar.

HONORARY PALLBEARER: Richard’s grandchildren are blessed to serve as the Honorary Pallbearers.

PALLBEARERS: Honored to serve as pallbearers are Daniel Munoz, Daniel Munoz Jr, Justin Dunbarr, Domingo Munoz, Doug Munoz, and Michael Archuleta.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to all the health care workers and first responders.
