Alonso Marquez, 83, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2020, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Alonso’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

SERVICES: A Memorial Service for Alonso will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at 10:00 AM.

On October 24, 1937, Alonso was born to Anamaria Marquez and Cundo Florez in Villa Ahumada, Chihuahua, Mexico. He was the beloved husband of Maria Socorro Marquez, whom he married on August 15, 1966, in Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Prior to retirement, Alonso worked as a truck driver. He loved gardening, fishing, and gambling; they were his favorite hobbies. Alonso enjoyed working on old cars.

As a hard-working immigrant, Alonso was married fifty-four years, and he came to the United States to give his children a better life. We are forever grateful, and Alonso will be dearly missed.

PRECEDED: Alonso was preceded in death by his parents, Anamaria Marquez and Cundo Florez; and his sister Rosa Isela Florez.

SURVIVORS: Those left to carry on Alonso’s legacy are his beloved wife, Maria Socorro Marquez; children: Hector Marquez, Armando Marquez, Fransisco Javier Marquez, Juan Arturo Marquez, Rocio Brown, Rosa Maria Marquez, and Alexandra Marquez; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters: Marta Marquez and Manuela Quezada; cousin, Abelardo Marquez; as well as his sheep and chickens.

HONORARY PALLBEARERS: Eligio Alvarez, Tony Elias, and Emilio Salgado.
