The Roswell Fire Department has a new deputy fire chief and a new fire marshal, with both top-level positions recently filled by promotions of a pair of department veterans.

Deputy Fire Chief Daniel Fuller has been with RFD since 2012, beginning as a firefighter before being promoted to driver in 2013. He became a lieutenant in 2016 and was promoted to be the department’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division chief in 2019. His selection as deputy fire chief comes following the retirement of Jason Sweatfield from that second-in-command position at RFD. Fuller has also served as a volunteer in the Midway Fire Department south of Roswell. He has a total of 14 years in fire service and has also been a paramedic since 2012.

As deputy fire chief, Fuller now manages the department’s daily operations and provides management oversight of division chiefs, including those overseeing Emergency Medical Services, Training and Safety, Fire Marshal and Battalion Operations. The deputy fire chief also provides administrative and executive support to the fire chief.

Fire Marshal Jared Olive (Submitted Photo)

Fire Marshal Jared Olive has worked for RFD for a little more than 10 years. He spent four years as a firefighter, three years as a driver, and has been deputy fire marshal for the past four years before being selected fire marshal.

The fire marshal conducts building inspections and fire investigations. Additional responsibilities include supervision of one or more deputy fire marshals, making command-level decisions and having an active role in policy determination.
