Julius Dan “Danny” Goodart, 71, of Lake Arthur, NM, passed away at St. Vincent de Christus Hospital in Santa Fe, NM, on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 after contracting Covid-19.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Julius J. and Dixie Dan Goodart, longtime residents of Roswell, NM. He is survived by his three sons, David and wife Suzanne Goodart of Falls Church, VA, Jonathan Goodart of Alexandria, VA, and Matthew Goodart of San Angelo, TX. He is also survived by one sister, Julie Ann Goodart of Austin, TX.

Dan was currently employed at the Artesia Senior Center where many valued his friendship and enjoyed his wit and humor.

Dan enjoyed life. He loved riding his Harley with his friends to motorcycle rallies and various places around the country. He loved hunting and shooting with his best friend, Ron Carwile. He loved camping out in nature. Dan was a man out of time. He would have had a better fit in the 1800’s. We all said it, we all knew it. In his younger years, he would pack up his horse, Blaze, and take off for parts unknown. He’d come home days later, smelling of campfire.

Dan’s wish was to be cremated and have his ashes spread over the country he so loved. His family is in the process of fulfilling his wishes and will hold a private memorial service at his favorite location. We ask that Dan’s friends celebrate his life and remember him especially while enjoying life in the great outdoors.
