City employees unload a dumpster at the Wool Bowl on North Grand Avenue Saturday afternoon during the first of four free bulk-trash collection days. In the east parking lot of the Wool Bowl facing North Garden Avenue, people could be seen offloading old tires. “This is an opportunity to showcase to the community the resources we provide and to connect with the community,” said Abraham Chapparo with the Solid Waste Department. He said the city is holding the bulk trash days in different areas of the city on Saturdays until Feb. 13 to encourage people to clean up their neighborhoods and alleys. The next event will be Jan. 30, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Elks Pool, near the corner of Southeast Main Street and Poe Street. Additional information is available on the city’s website, www.roswell-nm.gov. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
