Jeffrey Contreras, 25, of Roswell, is being sought by the Sheriff’s Office as a suspect in the death of Johnny Pacheco, Jr., 26, of Roswell, Undersheriff Charles Yslas said Saturday.

“Based on statements or information obtained, he is going to be a suspect in this homicide. So we are asking the public’s assistance in locating him,” he said.

Pacheco’s body was found Friday at about 2 a.m. in the area of Lupton and Y.O. roads, Sheriff Mike Herrington said.

According to an incident report from the Roswell Police Department, Pacheco’s family reported him missing Wednesday evening.

Yslas declined to comment about any possible motive or cause of death due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

He added that a third person who was being sought as a person of interest in Pacheco’s death, Levi Mejia, contacted the Sheriff’s Office Saturday afternoon after seeing a photo of himself posted on the Sherriff’s Office’s Facebook page.

Law enforcement, Yslas said, then picked Mejia up and transported him back to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
