Josefa (Josie) Bolaños

Josefa (Josie) Bolaños, 73, of Roswell and Midway, NM, passed away on January 7, 2021. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Josefa’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

On March 13, 1947, Josie was born in Presidio, Texas.  She graduated from Hagerman High School. Josie was married to Ruben Bolaños on December 6, 1969, in Dexter, NM, they were married 51 years. She worked at Levis and held other jobs, but the one she enjoyed the most was being a school bus driver for Hamill Bus Company, which she held for 35 years.  Josefa loved her bus kids and families and drove the adventurous, long county route north of town. She enjoyed and cherished spending time with her grandchildren.  Josie loved the Lord our Savior Jesus Christ.

Josie is survived by her spouse, Ruben Bolaños of the family home; sons: Ruben and wife Jennifer, Arturo and wife Emily, Alfredo and wife Erika; daughter, Sonia; daughter-in-law, Angela of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Haley, Victor, Joaquin, Derrick, Angelea, David, Aubrie, Josiah, Mila, Jaiden, Sophie, Emily, and Leah; sisters: Santos and husband Ismael Gutierrez and Kansas City family, Antonia Madrid and family, the Avalos family of Las Cruces; nephews: Alejandro and wife Isabel, Antonio and wife Celene, Jesse and Robert; nieces: Susan and husband Gabe of San Antonio, TX, Katherine of San Antonio, TX, Violet and her fiancé Ben, Grace and husband Lance of Austin, TX, Ashley and son Honor, Lupe Madrid, Felipe Madrid; as well as numerous other family members.

Josie is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Anita Madrid; brothers: Pedro and Guadalupe Madrid; sisters: Isabel Bolaños and Juliana Avalos; and sons: Jose Luis (Joe) Bolaños, and most recently Cuahutémoc Bolaños.

A Rosary and Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Roswell, NM, Saturday, January 30, 2021.  Father Jaroslaw “Jarek” Nowacki of Assumption Catholic Church will be officiating.
