Donations to local nonprofits and charitable causes will be the focus of this month’s First Friday.

Organized by MainStreet Roswell, the February event will have the theme of “Main Street Has a Heart!” for the fourth consecutive year. The Friday event typically begins about 5 p.m. in the North Main Street downtown shopping area.

Participating stores and businesses will be collecting money or goods or donating a portion of their proceeds to various community organizations. Live music performances also are planned.

“Now, more than ever, our downtown businesses need support from the community to keep their doors open,” said MainStreet Roswell Executive Director Kathy Lay. “Shopping local is critical for their survival. In spite of their struggles, they are still generously raising funds for the charities they care about.”

A list of participating businesses and their planned charitable activities can be found in the “Events” section of the MainStreet Roswell Facebook page, www.facebook.com/MainStreetRoswell.
