Suzanne “Suzie” Cox, 75, of Cabool Missouri gained her angel wings on January 25, 2021 and passed after a short illness. Suzie was born on November 12, 1945 in Roswell, New Mexico, to Edward “Truman” Pierce and Wanda B. Pierce (McBride). She graduated from Roswell High School in 1964 and was honored to be the FFA Sweetheart that same year.

After graduation she moved to Portales and attended Eastern New Mexico University for a short time before marrying and moving to Elida. She was active in the Elida ranching community for several years, Elida was special to her because that is where she met her dear friend, Alma Lyle Bilberry. After her divorce, she moved back to Roswell and worked for Stevens Oil for many years and then attended Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell to pursue a nursing degree.

While at church one Sunday she met her second husband, Marion L. Cox. They enjoyed many years together on their ranch until his passing in 2006.

She worked as a Registered Nurse at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center and retired from the State of New Mexico as a public health nurse. During her time in Roswell, she was a member of the Berrendo Cow Bells, Red Hat Club and was the Assistant Superintendent of the Eastern New Mexico State Fair Arts & Crafts barn for many years, working tirelessly alongside her dear friends Judy Hobson and Karen Henderson. She attended Gateway Church and Christs Church and especially loved working in the children’s nursery.

After retiring, she moved to Missouri and bought a small farm and a house with a big front porch so she could feed the birds and watch the sun rise and set over the pond.
