ANTONIO LUIS CARABAJAL NUNEZ, 77, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas. Please take a moment and share a fond memory or kind expression of sympathy for Antonio’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

SERVICES: There will be a Viewing for Antonio at St. Peters Catholic Church on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 9:00 AM, followed by a Rosary and Mass at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.

On June 28, 1943, Antonio was born to Salomon Nunez and Tillie Carabajal in Mountainair, New Mexico. He graduated from Roswell High School. Antonio attended classes at the University of Texas-El Paso (UTEP) and received an associate degree. He was the beloved husband of Luz Letizea Lucero Nunez, who he married on October 30, 1965, in Roswell, New Mexico. Antonio worked in the food industry and was a supervisor for over thirty years. He volunteered at Kiwanas, Sertoma, Boys & Girls Club, Roswell Gun Club, and Assumption Catholic Church, where he was an Assumption Eucharistic Minister. Antonio was also a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and St. John the Baptists Catholic Church. He was an avid scientific angler who enjoyed pistol and rifle shooting, gardening, and a passionate reader. His most memorable moments were the times he spent with his family. Antonio was a Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers fan. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Those left to carry on Antonio’s heritage are his loving wife, Lucy Nunez; children: Antonio Jr., (Jennifer) Nunez, Roxxane Nunez, Cindy Guevara, Tracy (Steve) Davis, Karen (Jim) Bertino; grandchildren: Anthony (Candace) Nickles, Michael Morris, Allysia (James) Scheu, Angelica Nunez, Samantha Chavez, Serena Nunez, and nine nieces and nephews that are considered grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; siblings: Melecio (Katy) Brito, Juan (Tina) Nunez, Margie (Roger) Onstad, Dora (Ismael) Alvarado, Linda Jo (Levi) Martinez, Helen Nunez, Roy (Anna Marie) Nunez, Rita Nunez, and Chano (Angela) Nunez; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; as well as his close friends: Lario Silva and Ignacio Quintero.

Preceding Antonio in death were his parents, Salomon Nunez and Tillie Carabajal, and his sister, Dorothy Perez.

Antonio’s family would like to thank all the healthcare workers who helped care for their dad and all the family and friends for their love and support.
