Marie Louise Homer, age 97, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at her home in Roswell, NM.

Marie was born August 24, 1923 in Marshfield, MO, daughter of Dorsie & Elizabeth Anne (Lowder) Harmon.

Marie married Howard Wesley Homer and had two sons, John who resides in Roswell, Richard and Judy (Williams) who reside in Napili, Maui. and nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, and Arizona.

Maire’s parents passed away within months of each other, and all of the children ages 10 months to 15 years were taken in by family. Marie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard Wesley Homer; her sisters Ruth (Harmon) Homer, Helen (Harmon) Boyd, and six brothers: Ival, Wade, Ward, Sidney, Dale and Doyle.

Marie worked at the school cafeteria at Roswell High School, and later at Safeway in Roswell, until she was 77! She then helped John at the Fraternal Order of Police Bingo, working the concession stand. She loved fishing with her sister, cooking and laughing and “making everyone’s favorites” to eat! Marie loved being with family in the backyard barbequing, gardening for hours, or traveling with her family and friends. She took her first college course in her 80’s, pottery making! We will cherish her pieces forever.

Her beautiful smile and laughter (and love of goofy hats) will be the best memories.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, that you take this time to remember and share your memories of Marie, and to take time to connect with your family and friends. Marie would say, make sure you get in the yard every day.

Due to the current pandemic, and a desire to keep everyone safe, a memorial will be held by the family when we can safely celebrate her life together.
